Continue reading...Community celebrates it’s heritage at the 41st Scandinavian Midsummer Festival. Astoria has historically been known for its Scandinavian heritage. Many area residents are able to trace their own heritage back generations. The Danish Society, Finnish Brotherhood, Ladies of Kaleva, Sons of Norway, Daughters of Norway, and Vasa Lodge, are just a few of the groups that were represented at the festival this year. Once again the festival proves to be a hit with locals and tourists alike.
Locals display their heritage in a fashion show at the Scandinavian Midsummer Festival. A group of festival regulars adorn themselves in authentic costumes for a packed house at the Clatsop County Fairgrounds.
